Private-Pay Intensive Therapy

A collaborative approach for eligible clients exploring ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) combines psychotherapy with ketamine treatment that is separately evaluated, prescribed, and medically managed by a qualified medical provider. Serenity provides the psychotherapy component and collaborates with Journey Clinical's medical team for eligible clients.

Collaborative care

Journey Clinical's medical team handles medical eligibility, prescribing, and follow-up. Serenity's therapist supports preparation, the therapeutic process, and integration within the agreed care plan.

When this may help

Support for what is getting in the way.

01

Medical eligibility comes first

Ketamine is not appropriate for everyone. A qualified medical clinician evaluates health history, medications, psychiatric history, potential risks, and eligibility.

02

Therapy is an essential part of the model

KAP is structured around psychotherapy before and after dosing experiences so there is space to prepare, process, and integrate what comes up.

03

Care is coordinated

The medical and psychotherapy roles are distinct but collaborative, helping keep prescribing and medical monitoring with the medical team while your therapist focuses on the therapeutic work.

Our approach

What the KAP process can look like.

The exact sequence is individualized, but Journey Clinical describes a model that includes medical evaluation, preparation, dosing-related care, and integration. Serenity's role is psychotherapy; medical decisions, ketamine prescriptions, and medical follow-up remain with the medical provider.

Clinical/compliance note: Keep this page conservative. Do not describe ketamine as FDA-approved for depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other psychiatric conditions, and do not promise rapid relief or guaranteed outcomes.
1

Medical evaluation

Meet with Journey Clinical's medical team to review history, discuss risks and potential benefits, and determine whether ketamine treatment is medically appropriate.

2

Preparation with your therapist

Clarify intentions, expectations, emotional supports, and the therapeutic framework before a dosing experience.

3

Integration

Use psychotherapy to reflect on the experience, explore what felt meaningful, and connect insights to ongoing emotional, behavioral, and relational work.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Is ketamine FDA-approved for depression or anxiety?

No. Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic, but ketamine itself is not FDA-approved for psychiatric conditions such as depression or anxiety. Its use for these conditions is off-label and requires appropriate medical evaluation and supervision.

Who prescribes the ketamine?

Under Serenity's current collaborative model, Journey Clinical's medical team is responsible for medical eligibility, prescribing, and medical follow-up. Serenity provides psychotherapy.

Is KAP right for everyone?

No. Eligibility depends on an individualized medical and mental-health assessment. The medical provider determines whether ketamine treatment is appropriate and discusses relevant risks, benefits, alternatives, and precautions.

What does integration mean?

Integration refers to psychotherapy used to process the experience and connect observations or insights from a dosing session to ongoing therapeutic goals. It does not guarantee a particular outcome.
